Hey y’all! So it’s about that time again for an update on the bump. It feels weird to say but, as of a few weeks ago, we have less than 20 weeks left until we meet baby. *Insert Wide Eyed emoji here!! Holy baby bump, time is literally flying by!!
Yeah, so while I’m busy picking my jaw up off the floor after that statement, let’s talk a little about Month Five. Spoiler Alert–Lots of fun stuff happened this month!
All About Month Five
Due Date: September 9, 2016 (currently 22 weeks and counting)
Gender Reveal: Remember this post on my old blog about how I was pretty much 99% sure we were having a little dude? Welp, my mommy-dar was WAAAAY off because we’re having a BABY GIRL!!!! To say we were surprised is probably the biggest understatement of the year. Aaaaannd I can’t say that we weren’t shell-shocked for a bit….I mean, ALL of my symptoms (save one) and my mother’s intuition screamed boy.
So of course being me, I had myself a good cry after we got back from the ultrasound appointment……chalk it up to pregnancy hormones? I knew it was silly to be so upset but I had never imagined Baby Fishy as a girl, I knew that Zach & his family were wishing for a boy, and we had pretty much everything picked out for a boy–baby registry, nursery decor, clothes, everything but future occupation (and we might have been halfway through planning that out too).
And then after my crying jag was over and I was looking through the ultrasound pictures, I realized the truth. That not having a rough-and-tumble baby boy meant, hello…. we were having a SWEET LITTLE BABY GIRL!!!!! Suddenly I had visions in my head of ballerinas and tutus and Disney princesses and tea parties. And pretty much, just like that, I was over-the-moon excited to be having a daughter.
Name: We do have a name for Baby Girl Fishy…..in fact, I knew what her name was going to be the minute the ultrasound tech said “she” instead of “he”…….but we’re not quite sure yet if we’ll be revealing it to the interwebs. However, since I love you guys so much, I’ll give you a hint: her name starts with an E. (Let the baby-name-guessing begin!)
Doctor’s Appointments: We had our 20 week anatomy scan (obviously) in the middle of this month and got to watch Baby E for around 30-minutes as the ultrasound tech did her scans. We will know more after next week’s doctors appointment but the tech was confident we had a healthy little baby growing in there. A very strong-willed little baby too, according to the tech, as she tried to move Baby E around 3 or 4 times during the ultrasound. It was so cute to see her little feet waving around and even more adorable to watch her sucking her thumb. *All the heart-eyed emojis.
We Have Movement!!!: The other really huge thing that happened this month was finally being able to feel Baby E moving in my tummy!! I started to feel little pops and flutters around Week 19 and since Week 21, they’ve actually started to feel like little kicks. Most of the time she’s at her most active in mid-afternoon (like now as I’m writing this post) and late at night before I go to sleep. It could be just my imagination but she always seems to move a little more when she hears her daddy’s voice at the end of the day. So far though, Zach hasn’t been able to feel her moving but hopefully that will come soon.
How I’m Feeling: The bump has definitely popped this month and, with the movement + the ultrasound, I’m feeling more like I’m pregnant and not just, ya know, bloated. Still hungry all the time and a little tired most of the time, but overall this pregnancy has been fairly easy overall.
What I’m Most Looking Forward to in Month Six:
- Hearing Baby E’s heartbeat and discussing the results of the anatomy scan a little more with the doctor at our next appointment. The ultrasound tech assured us everything was progressing normally and Baby E is happy and healthy in there but I’m anxious to get confirmation from my doctor.
- I’m also waiting with baited breath for the day Zach gets to feel our little girl move. I LOVE being able to feel her in there and I know he’s going to get the biggest kick out of feeling her move for the first time!
- Buying all the baby things!!!
