Snippets of Life / September

Happy Labor Day, lovelies! First of all, I hope you’re having a fantastic long weekend!

Can you believe another month is here and gone? 2017 is almost over and September is bringing a ton of cha-cha-changes to our household. Let’s talk about it, shall we?

+ My baby is turning ONE this month!!! ONE!?! How is this possible? I absolutely love the sweet, cuddly, independent phase she’s in right now but a big part of me just wants to stop time and keep my little one little for as long as possible.

+ In early August, we found out that the husband will be deploying within the next few months. We’re still waiting on exact dates but, suffice it to say, I’ll probably be a little absent from the blog world and social media for a bit trying to soak up as much family time as possible.

What are some of your best tips to make time go faster during deployment or when you’re away from your spouse for any length of time? What were the best ways to communicate with your deployed service member, in your experience? I’m trying my best to keep a positive outlook so tell me one thing you always look forward to doing while your spouse is away.

+ With that upcoming change in mind, I’m switching up my posting schedule for the next month or so to twice a week. I’m thinking Mondays and Wednesdays.

+ One of my big New York bucket list items was to explore the waterfalls in the area and we crossed a big one off our list this month–Taughannock Falls. Expect another “Explore New York” post all about it later in the month.

+ On a more fun note, we’ll be moving back to Hawaii at the end of 2018. Hurrah!! I’ve talked before about how much we miss the island and I’m so incredibly grateful for the opportunity to go back.

+ Lately, I’ve been experimenting a little with Instagram Stories and, not gonna lie, I’m kinda liking it! Granted, I’ve yet to show my face in any of my stories but hey, got to start small, am I right!

+ Opinions on T Swift’s new song? The first few times I listened to it I wasn’t a fan. Now, mhm, it’s growing on me. My husband, though, is a different story. He’s been humming and singing it since it came out because apparently, the guys in the office have it on repeat. Who knew infantrymen were such Swifties!?!

+ I’ve been really looking forward to family photos this year and Michelle from Michelle Frederick Photography did not disappoint. I love, love, LOVE the sneak peek photos she sent us and I can’t wait to see the full gallery!

+ Want a sneak peek of our latest Disney Date?

Any guesses on what we made or what movie we watched for date night? If you missed our last date night, check it out here.

+ Confession? I miss designing blogs! I’m toying with the idea of starting again but the blogging world has changed so much. Sometimes it feels like no one is really even blogging anymore! What do you think? Is blogging, as it once was, getting phased out?

  • I am so so so incredibly jealous that y’all are going back so soon! The pictures are beautiful! And I love your hair! I’m with you on the IG stories! I showed my face ONCE on eclipse day! But I do want to get better about doing live stories or just me talking to the camera in general.

    • Thanks, Alex! Getting in front of the camera is sooo hard! :/ I love watching your stories though–it’s so fun to watch what you guys are up to in KY!

  • Jen

I’m so jealous you’re going back to Hawaii! What a great thing to look forward to after the deployment. 馃檪

  • Imma just jump in one of your moving crates when you go back to Hawaii 馃槈

    • You definitely need to visit HI—especially after a few long winters here. I’m so not used to how cold it’s been these past few weeks!!
