You guys, I am so excited it’s April already! Seven months down, two months to go till the husband is finally home! Hurrah! I’m crossing all my fingers that the next month goes by as fast as the last few have. (Is it just me or is 2018 going by at whirlwind speed?) Anyway, how about a few snippets of life in March?
+ Remember how last month I asked your opinions on homecoming photos? Thanks to Bailey and Carolann, I managed to convince Zach it was a good idea and I’ve booked Sarah Lisle Photography for our homecoming! I love Sarah’s portfolio and I’m so excited to see the photos she takes for us.
+ Speaking of happy things, April is the husband’s birthday month which means we’re both 27 for the next 6 months. Yay! (Any other wives out there older than their husbands? I feel like I’m one of the few.)
I sent Zach this birthday care package with some of his favorite things and it was a huge hit! I’m going to miss sending care packages when he comes home (but not thaaat much haha-don’t get ideas, Army).
+ One of my goals for this month was doing a sensory activity with Baby E every day. The photo below is from our experiment with bath paints–it was a huge hit!
I’m happy to say that, while we did miss a few days here and there, I did pretty well with this goal and we will definitely be incorporating these activities into our weekly routine for the rest of the year.
+ I succeeded in completing my very first Day in the Life this month and I took around 200 photos throughout the day. I’ll be sharing how I documented my day in my Project Life album tomorrow but for now, feast your eyes on this photo of my handsome pup.
This is his “I’m Waiting for My Baby to Drop Food for Me” look. Seriously, though E thinks it’s hilarious to give Duke her food. She calls him over when she thinks I’m not looking and laughs uproariously when he takes the food she gives him. It’s so cute and sweet I don’t have the heart to stop them.
+ One of my social media goals for 2018 was to grow my crafty Youtube channel to 1,000 subscribers and this month I hit the halfway mark! Yay for 500 subscribers! I’ll most likely be doing a giveaway when I hit a thousand so be sure you’re following my channel if you’re the least bit interested in memory keeping.
+ Speaking of my social media goals, I’m in the process of adding some new features to the blog that I’m really excited about. I’ll be sharing with my newsletter subscribers first so look out for a special email in your inboxes this coming Friday!
+ This past month has been pretty quiet with lots of time spent outside when the Fort Drum weather permits. I’m crossing all my fingers that spring has finally come to the North Country but the weather forecasts lately are not giving me much hope.
This little one loves the great outdoors just like her daddy!
+ I’ve been a major TV show kick this month and I think I found my new favorite mini-series–The Long Road Home. It’s a National Geographic drama based on the first few days of the 1st Cavalry Division’s deployment in Baghdad. The series does an extremely good job of showing both the battle that’s happening on the ground as well as the wives’ experiences back home.
I finished the eight episodes in one night and I know I’ll be watching it again with Zach when he comes home. You can find the entire series on Hulu.
+ The husband and I are thinking of visiting New York City during his summer leave so if any of you have tips on what to do or where to go, please share in the comments below. The only thing we both know for certain we want to do is visit the 9/11 Memorial but other than that we’re open to suggestions!
+ Speaking of vacations, I’m so excited to have our Disney travel planner Alicia guest posting on the blog later this month! Alicia made our trip to Disney World last summer a breeze and I’m so happy to have her share some Disney tips with you guys.
If you’re planning a trip to any of the Disney resorts or cruise lines, I definitely recommend taking a look at her vacation planning services.
Also, I can’t handle all the cuteness in this photo. Or how little Baby E was when we took our trip. Zach and I can’t wait to take her back in a few years. (We may or may not have already started saving up!)
+ I usually finish these posts off by sharing what books I read during the month. Does reading the Tale of Peter Rabbit to my toddler every night count?
E and I are currently reading through Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone and I am about halfway through two books of my own so hopefully, I’ll have some recent reads to share with you next month.
Goals for April
- Post twice a week on Our Darling Adventure and twice weekly on my crafty Youtube channel.
- Do one sensory activity with Baby E at least once a week.
- Finish at least one of the books I started this month.
- Launch the new blog features by May 1st!
Thanks for chatting with me! What did you do in March?
