Hey lovelies! How was your May? If you follow me on Instagram or we’re friends on Facebook, you probably already know that mine was pretty fantastic. Read on, my friends, to hear all about our May goings-on!
+ If you’ve read April’s snippets post, you know that I was pretty certain summer would never come to Fort Drum. Well, May proved me wrong (thankfully) and we’ve had some really great and summery weather these past few weeks.
+ The little has been loving going outside every day to play. And I’ve been loving dressing her in all the cute summer outfits I’ve accumulated. Does anyone else enjoy shopping for your kid’s clothes WAY more than shopping for yourself? I feel like my daughter has so much better style than I do, you guys…..and she’s not even two.
+ I’ve always been really interested in genealogy and ancestry so I hopped on the 23 and Me train and got my DNA tested this month. I love seeing how the DNA results compare to family lore. There are some discrepancies-my mother’s family swears they have Native American ancestry and my father’s side always claimed Irish ancestry not British–but overall I’m pretty pleased with my results. The ancestry DNA bug has bitten me, you guys, and now everyone in my life must do this test. (But, seriously though, I’ve already convinced my husband and my dad to take it.)
+ The biggest event of the month was, of course, Zach’s homecoming! I’m so glad that we had Sarah from Sarah Lisle Photography to capture our homecoming memories because I was seriously so excited and nervous that I only took one photo of the whole ceremony. We are so happy to have Zach back home and so thankful for all your prayers and thoughts throughout this deployment. Best day of 2018 ever!!!!
+ Since it was a long weekend, we decided to go on our first family hike of the year and head over to Salmon River Falls for a little impromptu picnic.
As you can see, the little is loving having Daddy home. I was really worried at first that she’d have a hard time adjusting to her Dad being home but she recognized him right away and they’ve been pretty inseparable ever since.
+ Honestly, this month passed really quickly in a blur of cleaning and getting ready for the husband so no books read or a lot of working out in May.
+ The blog and social media might be a little sparse this month since we’re still getting used to having the hubby home and spending some much needed time together as a family. I still have a few goals for the month of June though (check back next week for a fun giveaway coming to the blog!!).
Goals for June
- Post at least once a week on Our Darling Adventure and once weekly on my crafty Youtube channel.
- Get my bum moving and work on the super secret crafty project in the works for the fall!
- Spend at least an hour a day social media free.
Thanks for chatting with me! What have you been up to in May?
