Happy February lovelies! How about some snippets of life around here in January?
+ The biggest thing that happened in January was obviously the blog’s facelift! I’ve gotten so many compliments about the new logo and layout–I think this one might be “the one”, you guys! (I still reserve the right to change my mind as well as the blog’s look in a few months) but in all seriousness, I love the new brand. Especially the hand-drawn icons I made for my categories and email.
+ On another blog-related note, I’m pretty happy to say that I accomplished my blogging goals for the month and published at least one post every week in January. Yay me!!
+ One of my best friends visited in mid-January and we had so much fun reliving our college days. I’m pretty sure we stayed up till 6 am one day she was here! Note to future me, E still wakes up at the same time no matter how late mommy stays up. Hello, 2 hours of sleep!
+ During that visit, I was confronted with the fact that E is growing like a little weed. We went out to a sit-down restaurant for the first time since the husband deployed and E got her own little meal. And even though sitting in Mommy’s lap was the only way she’d eat without happy-screaming (yeah, that’s a thing), E did pretty well during our outing. When did my little baby grow up!
+ Fort Drum had some pretty interesting weather this month. For a few days, we actually hit 51 degrees. The snow melted and it felt like spring. Until it got cold again. Winter here is a temperamental animal.
+ I hit 150 subscribers on my crafty Youtube channel. A fact about which I’m very grateful and even more surprised!
+ I got my first Stitchfix in a year or more and kept the blue and white sweater in the picture above. Yours truly was a horrible blogger and didn’t take any good photos of the clothes in my fix but I have another one scheduled for March. I’m hoping I’ll have gotten the hang of taking photos of myself by then!
+ Who knew my Target dollar spot finds could make such a pretty Valentines Day care package to send to the husband? Everyone, obviously because the Dollar Spot is amazing.
+ My favorite subscription box meal this month was this one from Hello Fresh. Mhm, delicious!
+ If you follow Erica over at Whimsical September, you might already know that I took over her Saturday Sitdown a few weeks ago. Erica is super sweet (and one of the very first bloggers I followed) and I loved catching up with her through the Q&A.
+ I succeeded in reading two books this month (which is actually really good compared to my track record).
I read Dear Fahrenheit 451 as part of Carolann’s book club ‘Beyond Words’ and really enjoyed it. And of course, I got so many book recommendations from it that my TBR list for 2018 has grown to epic lengths. If you’re a book lover, I definitely recommend this book. The letters to each book the author wrote about were funny, heartfelt, and made me want to read more. There were a few books I had to look up to really ‘get’ but overall this was a very fun read and one I’d recommend. (4.5 out of 5 stars)
The other book I read in January was All the Way Home by a fellow blogger, Kim Mills from She Is Fierce. Kim is a Canadian military spouse and I’ve followed her blog for years so, of course, I had to read her debut novel. I really appreciated that her story didn’t skimp on depicting the hardships the couple faced and showed how hard it is for soldiers to lose their brothers in arms. You can definitely tell that the author’s experiences influenced her writing which I loved. Overall, even though this book definitely had some ‘adult’ moments, I would recommend it to those that enjoy a good romance. (4 out of 5 stars)
+ I also sent out my second newsletter EVER this morning. Yay me! If you’d like a look at what’s coming to the blog this month, as well as an exclusive printable for only subscribers, sign up below.
+ Ok, ok, I’ll show you one sneak peek.
These are coming to the blog on Monday and I’m excited to be doing something a little different for me as a part of this post.
Goals for February
- Post at least once a week on Our Darling Adventure
- Read two more books this month (I’ve already started my first one Code Name Verity so I have high hopes for this goal)
- Post on Instagram Stories weekly.
- Use my Power Sheets to their full potential.
Alright, so that’s all I have for January’s recap, lovelies. See you here again on Monday!
IT’S YOUR TURN:
